USB wireless adapter suddenly got bad speeds

How do i fix this? Solutions?

I have a USB wireless adapter on my desktop pc, I got good download speeds a couple of days ago but now its down at 0 - 10Mbps, I usually had 40Mbps.

Speedtest starts with 40Mbps for a couple of seconds but then drops to 0-10Mbps.

I tried:
Resetting the router
Restarting the PC
Using different USB ports

Test the speed with a different device if possible (eg a wireless laptop) to eliminate the USB WiFi adapter as the source of the problem. That will at least get you started on narrowing down the source.

Also remember it's not impossible for your ISP to be having problems, so check that out too.

im having the exact same issue with a new ASUS AC55...was getting 70+mbs dl and 8mbs up now its at around 30 down/0.8up !!! ive done everything i can think of even reset the router!
