So about 2 years ago i was using a usb wireless network adapter. One day i knocked it and physically broke it whilst it was in the USB slot. I purchased another usb network adapter and despite puttng in a few hours to try to get it to work i could not, at the time i had university exams to prep for so since then i have been using a wired power line connection which has been working fine.

Recently i moved into a new place where it is unsuitable to use a powerline connector and have since bought a Netgear N300. I am having the same issue as i previously had, the system recognises the installation and through device manager tells me everything is working ok. However i am unable to use the device as windows does not recognise it as actually working.

Any help in getting this to work would be very much appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Windows couldn't automatically bind the IP protocol stack to the network adapter.

Windows Help and Support can provide more information about resolving driver or hardware issues.

6 A network cable is not properly plugged in or may be broken Detected Detected

Plug an Ethernet cable into this computer Not run

An Ethernet cable looks like a telephone cable but with larger connectors on the ends. Plug this cable into the opening on the back or side of the computer. Make sure the other end of the cable is plugged into the router. If that does not help, try using a different cable.

No, im not given the option to see any wireless networks in my area.

The positioning of both devices isnt an issue, when the first adapter broke i got 4 bars and the reception in my new place is full on my phones wireless.

Additional information:

Wlan Autoconfig does not appear in my running services, furthermore i cant locate it in Msconfig startup options.

I can however find wlansvc.dll in system32 folder, i believe the fact this service isnt running is my issue. Any takers on how to fix that ? Currently trying but not sure how
