My asus usb wifi dongle suddenly stopped working. I tried a lot. Sometimes itll work for a few mins. Sometimes it wont even log in with the right password. I have tried every driver. I reinstalled windows 10 then tried it. I also wiped 10 and installed windows 8. My other usb devices work. The internet works with an ethernet cord and im currently installing all windows 8 updates. I used the usb adapter on my mothers laptop and disabled here built in, and it worked. I really hope it isnt my mobo. I even tried switching the port its plugged into on the mobo from 3.0 to 2.0. I also find it odd that itll tell me the im using the wrong password and i have to use the wps button. Its never done this in the 2 years since i built my machine. Any idea or needed info, ask and ill try to update you guys the best i can.

The other system it's working it, is it the same distance from the router and is the same operating system? If it's a dual channel router and adapter, did you check both 2.4 and 5 ghz bands? Did you try totally uninstalling the drivers and re-installing new ones?

Idk what I did that fixed it, but what I think did it was uninstalling the driver for it after i updated everything else, and unplugging it and plugging it back in. Windows Installed an earlier version of what driver it is that i had downloaded. I upgraded the routers firmware, flashed my bios and then did all the windows updates after reinstalling windows 8. Had to use an ethernet cord to get it all done and drag my pc into the living room.
