usb won't play on tv or through dvd player

Hi, I took a video of a family members wedding. I have tried to burn to a dvd but it won't. I then saved to a usb after formatting as FAT did not work. The size was 12.4 gb. FAT was not big enough to support it. In the new format, it still does not play. I am at my wits end, please advise what I can do. I made the movie on Windows Movie Maker 6.

What format is the movie in? Needs to be one of the following, .divx
.wmv
.avi
.mp4
.mkv
.ts
