[SOLVED] usb2 and 3 compatability

Hi I thought that USB3 was downward compatable to USB2. I have a Lenova M10 tablet. I could not get it to connect to my windows PC. When I plugged it in, it went into chargeing mode. After being frusteated trying out settings, I pluged it into a USB2 socket. IT WORKED.

Why would it not work in a USB3 socket if it is backward compatable?

Some USB 2.0 cables don't work well on USB 3.0 ports.

For example if I connect my USB 2.0 Flash to the USB 3.0 port it will work, but if I use an old USB cable it will not work.

Moreover, sometime you have to install Lenovo USB drivers on your PC to make them work.

Okay thanks, but from what said plugging the tablet into a USB2 or USB3 should work? I will try with other devices like mobilr phone and cam=corder then.
