In usage, do these adapters use a ton of CPU resources when you're hammering them with data? I think I saw some narrative about it before but I can't find it anymore.

This PC has only one embedded gigabit port and is out of PCIe slots. However, it does have an abundance of USB3.0 Type-A ports. I'll probably need one or two such adapters to add dedicated NICs for a couple of VMs.

Not really. They will use some amount of CPU resources from your platform but not a tonne.

That's where you state the specs to your build in order for us to understand what you're working with.
