I have a USB3 Western Digital passport and it was working fine until yesterday. I unplugged the USB3 cable and replugged and nothing. Then I plugged the USB3 drive into a USB2 and it worked. Next I reloaded the USB3 driver and again no cigar. I am using an USB3 extension cable because the USB3 ports are on the back of the CPU. I plugged a USB2 drive into the cable and it worked. Any ideas?

BTW it is certainly faster but not 10 times as they claim, 2-3 is what I was getting.

Is there a reset button on the Passport? Do you have the power cable plued in? Where do you have the power cable pluged into , a power strip? Is the power strip on? Is it pluged into the wall outlet and is the wall outlet on a switch?
These are just a lot of different situations that could happen so I have just listed them to see if any of them could be the reason. You would be surprised at what can happen and I have come accross the wall switch issue before.

No there is not a reset button, but that can't be the issue since the USB3 drive works in a USB2 port. Thanks for replying, another guy in the group suggested to reinstall the chipset driver and I did and that took care of it.
