Use both the 8 pin and 6 pin power connectors on my GPU? With 1 cable?

Ok, i apologize if this question has been asked before, but it seems the answers are 50% yes and no. I have a Sapphire Nitro RX580 8gb, it has an 8 and 6 pin power connection. My PSU is a Seasonic Focus Gold 550w semi-modular. It came with 1 pci-e cable for GPU, which is 8 pin on one end and has 2 6+2 connectors on the other end. If needed, my motherboard is MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC.
Do i need to use the 6 pin in addition to the 8 pin connection on the GPU, and if so, will that 1 cable work or do i need to purchase a separate cable? Currently the card works, but will there be increased performance with more power? And i do plan on overclocking at some point.

Yes, you use the single cable with two connectors to power your GPU. A second cable is not required. Adding one will not produce more performance.

That Seasonic doesn't have 4 PCIe power plugs. Not that I know of. If you have two, and are using two, and everything is fine, then you are doing what you are supposed to be doing. Don't try to do it any other way.

Your right, it doesent have 4, it has two, and im using just one. But the one cable has 2 6+2 connectors on one end. I thought it was for dual GPU...

Nope. That config is for 1 GPU.

You should actually use both connections if your GPU has two connectors (using both a 6+2pin and 6-pin, in your situation).
