Question Use .exe as OS

I was just curious id it would be possible to usensure an .exe app as an os... so when you boot the pc it just comes up as that app.

Yes, if you consider DOS to be acceptable. Otherwise No. The exe would have to contain all the drivers for the hardware as well as the application. An OS is just a collection of EXE files. Many of them specialized.

What is it that you're trying to accomplish? It sounds more like you want your choice of OS at the start of the system.

Of course it won't run as the operating system, but you can easily setup the program to run at start up and then use system policy to disable normal Windows features like taskbar, access to control panel, etc... This type of thing is called kiosk mode often.

It's technically possible to program your own OS as an executable file. Not exactly practical though. : P
