My isp came out to install internet today. I had him run a cable up the side of the house so it came into what will be the office. I asked for a split so that I could someday move the modem to the basement and use the existing coax line to the living room for ethernet.
However the split he put in is outside so I have a split going to one room on the second floor and the other to the basement which distributes to the rest of the house. Only one cable goes into the basement from outside.
My question is can I use the existing wiring as is to have hard wired ethernet to every room in the house or will I need to take the upstairs room off the outside split and run it to the basement so it can be after the modem?
