Use For 1394 Firewire

I have an older Asus MB (P7P55) with two 1394 ports. Is there any use for these? Is there a conversion to USB3 or Thunberbolt?

FireWire and USB were introduced about the same time.

In several ways, it was superior to USB. But the market settled on the USB interface, and FireWire fell by the wayside.
A lot of early digital video cameras had a FireWire connection.
