I broke 3 of the 4 "pins" to place the stock cooler in the motherboard. The CPU is an i7 2600K. Is there any way to start the computer without using the stock cooler? I know I can't start it without the heat-sink but is the fan strictly necessary?

Help me 🙁
I really need my PC working and I can't get a new stock cooler soon 🙁

Go to your local electronics store and pickup another cooler that's compatible with LGA 1155.
Do not try to run your computer without a working CPU cooler, the stock heatsink isn't designed to work passively.
You will ruin your CPU if you try to run it without a proper cooler.

You can buy an after market heatsink. Without the fan running your cpu will overheat and could cause damage. I suggest the Cryorig H7. Should allow a good OC also.

why did you ask for advice? You were told no twice, you did it anyway.

If you have broken some of the push pins then there is no pressure between the heat sink and the CPU, the fan is irrelevant at this point, without pressure there is no good contact and no transmission of heat, your CPU would have reached 90-100C within 1-3s of being turned on, that's probably why it turned off, it could have damaged itself.

Get whatever you can that fits your socket, they'll all be as good as stock.

you broke the pins that hold the heat sink on NOT GOOD! maybe get a cooler with a back plate ?

imagine if i asked you hay my bike has no chain on it, and insted of a seat i broke it off 🙁 could i just sit on the bare metal? could I just push it with my feet?
I mean you could but you ant going to fare

Just to clarify here - did you physically break the clasps that hold the stock fan to the motherboard? Or did you actually bend the pins underneath the CPU? If it's the latter your motherboard won't start up until you get those pins straightened out.
