Using your Keyboard as a Mouse

Step 1: Turn on Mouse Keys

  • * Open the 'Ease of Access Center' window by pressing Windows key + U

    * Under the 'Explore all settings' heading, select 'Make the keyboard easier to use'.
    This can be achieved by pressing tab to select one of the options and using your arrows keys to navigate.

    * Under the 'Control the mouse with keyboard' heading, tick the box next to 'Turn on Mouse Keys', by pressing 'space bar' or pressing 'Alt + M'.

Step 2: Customize Mouse Keys


  • * To customize mouse keys select 'Set up Mouse Keys' by pressing 'Alt + Y'
    The box beside 'Turn on Mouse Keys' should be ticked.

    *Under the 'Keyboard shortcut' heading, you can turn off and on the 'Display a warning message when turning a setting on' and/or disable 'Make a sound when turning a setting on or off'.

    *Under the 'Pointer speed' heading, you can control the speed of the cursor or select 'Hold down CTRL to speed up and SHIFT to slow down'.

    *Under the 'Other settings' heading, you can choose rather your 'Num Lock' key turns the feature off or on.
