Use laptop display as external monitor for my desktop?

Hello so I am a web development student and I am looking for a way to expand my monitor display to my laptop display to save up and not have to buy a second monitor. I also do not have the space to add a second monitor. So I was wondering if anybody know's of any software or Windows application that can accomplish this? I have tried Synergy and Input Director and these are great but these only share my mouse and keyboard. I can't move one window from my desktop to my laptop screen. The purpose is to be able to have brackets which is a live preview text editor that allows me to see the progress of the website when writing my code without refreshing the page every time.So if I can get my laptop to work as a second monitor I will be able to drag my text editor to one screen and have my browser displaying the website on the other. Hope someone can help, thanks!

Video inputs are very rare on laptops. Likely you would need an external capture card to use the laptop as an external monitor and those usually cost more than a monitor.

Video inputs are very rare on laptops. Likely you would an external capture card to use the laptop as an external monitor and you can likely find a monitor thats cheaper than a capture card.

I am aware of that, which is why I would like to know of an app or software that does this
