Use of level 3 cache?

i want to upgrade my pc from intel p4 to amd athlon 2 x2or phenom 2 x2.Do all the levels of cache memory say l1 l2 l3 embedded on processor chip ??is level 3 cache beneficial if so then how???

What are the risk of the oem processors?

I just bought a Phenom II 925 for around 79 bucks and am loving it.

To the OP, Source based games really like the higher amounts of cache, in l4d there was a 30% difference from having l3 cache on Phenom processors.

For starters you lose your 3 year AMD warranty and secondly there are reports of them coming with bent pins, although this seems to have stopped. My new Sempron 130 is OEM, so until I get an OEM CPU, all I can go buy is what other people say, I guess...

do OEM boards fall inadequate to run phenom series?? or this is just bcoz of limited hardware warranty??

more and more games are using more than two cores
also many other programs including operating systems themselves
are multithreaded to take advantage of multiple cores
all of cpu design and software development is headed towards
utllizing more cores since there is only so fast they can make one core

the chipset of the motherboard primarily determines which cpus
are capable of being used

with OEM boards manafacturers will sometimes limit what CPUs
can be used either because of old BIOSes not being updated
or they want to limit the CPU upgrade path forcing you into buying
a new computer

Versatility, in other words you can achieve more benefit over a larger area of different applications such as Photoshop uses many cores some other programs to.

It keeps your computer uptodate in the long run, where as cache level 3 isnt as good as cores.
