Hi, I am currently connected to my main router which is a bit far from my room. However i have a old D-link router (DSL-2730U) which does not have a wlan port and i want to connect this router to this router so that i get access in my room as well.
Is it possible to make my old router a range extender without connecting it to my main router?
Again the old one doesnt have a WLAN port only 4 LAN and 1 DSL port is available.

The router would have to be able to run as a repeater or as a CLIENT. That is not a common feature in a router. Most times the device is sold as a repeater or extender if it has those features.

Even if the device does have that function to work effectively it needs to be placed in general 1/2 way between the 2 locations. It serves no purpose to put it in your room if that was your thought. The device would receive the same poor signal from you main router your pc does.
