[SOLVED] Use Optiplex 990 MT case with a newer micro ATX MOBO?

Hi All!

I'm trying to put together a new machine - here is the parts list from https://pcpartpicker.com/list/JDYBdm :

CPU: Intel Core i5-9400 2.9 GHz 6-Core Processor ($168.15 @ Amazon)​

CPU Cooler: ARCTIC Alpine 12 LP CPU Cooler​

Motherboard: Gigabyte B365M DS3H Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($74.99 @ B&H)​

Memory: Crucial 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-2666 Memory ($63.99 @ B&H)​

Video Card: Zotac GeForce GTX 1060 3GB 3 GB Mini Video Card ($169.99 @ Newegg)​

Case: Antec VSK3000E-U3 MicroATX Mini Tower Case ($37.99 @ Amazon)​

Power Supply: EVGA 400 W ATX Power Supply ($42.98 @ Newegg)​

This would be my first build from scratch. So any recommendations, heads up, comments are welcome

So we have an old Dell Optiplex 990 MT as well but it has a bad motherboard. I was thinking about reusing the MT case. Would the Optiplex 990 MT case accomodate this MOBO: Gigabyte B365M DS3H Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ?

I already have the EVGA 400 W PSU and a few SSDs that I plan on recycling.

Check the front panel header wires (Power, Reset, HDD Activity) from the case. Are they separate or aligned so they match up with your new motherboard's front panel connectors?

On the Optiplex 990 the power button is on the top left the cables go to one corned of the MOBO with a 2x3 pin header.

The HDD status lights located with the 4 USB ports near the front center of the chassis. These header pins go to another section of the MOBO.

Here is a diagram of the Optiplex 990 MT.

On the Optiplex 990 the power button is on the top left the cables go to one corned of the MOBO with a 2x3 pin header.

Do the wires of the 2x3 pin header match up with the F_Panel pin outs on the motherboard?

I don't think it matches up. The 2x3 header is keyed - only fives wires present and the lower right pin is keyed (no wire). Even if I were to flip the 2x3 header it doesn't match up with the F-Panel pin layout.
