I found this old exchange on using a TV aerial for FM reception - https://forums.tomsguide.com/threads/receiving-fm-via-set-top-box.240246/#post-423744.
When I tried to connect our TV aerial to our FM tuner using a screw on to press on Gold adapter, I had no signal. When I tried with a 75-to-300-Ω balun with a dipole, I got a decent signal. Since we live 40 - 60 miles from any decent FM stations I'd like to use the outside 25' high aerial with it's +8db amplification. The tuner is in our lower level.
Do I have any options? Can I strip back the coax and connect the inner core to one lead on the balun and the outer shield to the other?
Thank you.
