Use port from MoBo instead of video card

I just picked up a 46 inch Sony Bravia, but I'm having a hard time integrating it with my computer. The TV has the following inputs:

4 HDMI
1 Component
1 VGA
1 S-Video

My video card is an aging GeForce 8800 GT with 2 DVI ports. My motherboard also has a VGA port built into it.

I know I should just buy a new video card with HDMI output, but I'm trying to use the VGA port on my motherboard instead. Unfortunately, I'm not getting a signal through it. Is it possible to use a port from an integrated adapter while still getting all the benefits of the PCI-E video card?

You can also try using a DVI-HDMI adapter.

The answer to your question is no.

Did you go into nVidia's control panel to set up the Bravia as the primary display? You will need to connect both PC monitor and the HDTV during this setup. Afterward, you can remove the PC monitor.

The VGA port on your motherboard is for the integrated graphics and should be non-functional if you are using a discrete video card(the 8800 GT.)
You need a DVI to HDMI adapter of some sort;
