Use Windows 10 (1803) OEM key in an early version

Hello guys,

I bought an OEM license of Windows 10 version 1803. I installed it on a UP-Core board (up-board.org) and activate it. After the first Windows update the system star crashing with a lot of Blue Screens. After reading a post from https://forum.up-community.org/discussion/3034/windows-10-successful-os-and-driver-install? they suggest to downgrade to version 1706.

Can I use my windows key in that version?

Thanks!

Are you getting the same error as link? WDF = Windows Driver Foundation, its likely the Up board drivers need to be updated. Unless device is not attached to internet, Wm 10 will still try to upgrade you to 1803 if you put 1709 on the board.

Licence keys shouldn't be version specific, so I can't see any reason you couldn't use 1709, if thats what you want to do.

Hello Colif,

Thanks a lot for your answer.

I have one more doubt. I'm having issues getting an ISO image of the OEM version 1709 and I only have an ISO image of the retail version, can I use my OEM key in that version?

Best regards!

UPDATE***

Hello Colif,

Now I have the UP Core board with Windows 10 1709 up and running.

Thanks again!

Very little difference between OEM and retail copy now, only difference is how many PC it can be on over time. OEM can be moved once (so you can put it on 2 PC over time) whereas retail is likely to allow more than 2 moves. Both can only be on 1 PC at a time though.

The ISO is the same file as retail, though can be newer version of win 10. Depends when its bought.

Glad you got it working :)
