HI guys,

As of now, i have a i5 6600k and a 1060

I am going to buy a newer, more up-to-date system. ( i5 8500 / rx 580 )

So, my question is.... If i don't plan on using my old gaming PC anymore, Can i re-use the copy of windows i was using on my old gaming PC? Is there a transfer process i should know about?

I currently have windows 10 home edition on a USB stick ( bought it for $100 back in 2016 , kinda expensive but it works great)

Thanks in advance !

It's not a scam, its promoted by well respected Youtubers.
Please show me your proof of it being a Scam and I will show you Proof that well respected Youtubers and others recommend it.

Where did the original OS come from?
Any transfer process relies on the answer to that.

EDIT: OK, you purchased your own WIn 10.
No problem.

Read and do this before you change any parts:

OK, so i have added my copy of windows 10 to my microsoft account.

When i do my new build i simply just boot from the windows 10 USB stick ( since that's what i bought and used on my old build). then install windows normally. Next, i do the following correct?

1.) Select the Start button, select Settings > Update & security > Activation , and then select Troubleshoot. You must be signed in as an administrator.

2.) The troubleshooter will show a message that Windows can’t be activated on your device. Select I changed hardware on this device recently, and then select Next.

3.) Enter your Microsoft account and password, and then select Sign in. You’ll also need to enter the password for your local account if the Microsoft account you entered isn’t a connected account.

4.) From the list of devices that are linked to your Microsoft account, select the device that you’re currently using, select the check box next to This is the device I’m using right now, and then select Activate.

I just want to make sure i have this process correct. Thanks so much for all your help
