[SOLVED] Used 1070 from Newegg

Would this be as good as a normal 1070? Would their be chances of defects with it? Or cooling problems?

I buy used electronics a lot for my job.
I think it's impossible to say what the chances are "with that particular card" that it will be defective.
Although, as I said, I buy a lot of used electronics, mainly from EBay buy other suppliers as well.....and the vast majority of the time (90%+) I have no problems.
The important things I stress are....make sure you know the return policy and buy from a reputable dealer. I think Newegg is very reputable.

Well...."worth" is always kind of a tough call because people live in different countries with different prices etc.

The 5700 is faster....so even though I'm not an AMD guy.....I would probably go with the 5700 new over the 1070 used.

Don't get the 1070. For about the same level of performance, get this.

They have some other models for 230. But I have that card, and I think it gets to 66 when gaming. Pretty much same performance as a 1070. Plus it's actually sold by Newegg, should be brand new, mine was. And a warranty.

For the cost of the other you should look at the 5600xt, the 5700 or the rtx 2060.

I might add also, if that blower fan kicks into high gear that card will be LOUD. I usually don't mind fans, but I had a card I bought used from Microcenter. In fact it was a refurbished 1070 founder's edition. Fans ran full on. Promptly returned.

Even a brand new 1070 for $300 wouldn't be a particularly good deal at this point. Definitely not a used one without proper warranty coverage.

A 1070 only offers roughly similar performance to a GTX 1660 SUPER or Ti on average. With 1660 SUPERs available for as little as $230 now, brand new with 2-3 years of warranty coverage, that would probably be the better option...

A bit more VRAM is the only notable thing it offers over those models. For around $300, you would likely be better off going with a brand new RTX 2060 or an RX 5700, cards that should be somewhere in the vicinity of 20% faster...

I can say if you're looking to save money, the 1660 super isn't bad. I used to have a Vega 56 that I ended up selling. Finally decided I wanted about that level of performance again. The 1660 super will be enough to hold me over until I save up for a better card down the road.
