Question Used 1080Ti vs new rtx 2080?

Hello
I am in Lebanon so the used market of GPUs is a bit tiny, I can get now a 1080ti used like the evga or asus strix for 500ish $ or get a Zotac rtx 2080 entry level at 760$
Are used GPU cards to be avoided? specially that the asus one has already one light tube less
I change my GPU usually every 2 years, so it's better to take the rtx 2080?
Can an easy OC app like MSI Gaming app OC the Zotac https://www.zotac.com/us/product/graphics_card/zotac-gaming-geforce-rtx-2080#overview ?

I don't usually recommend others to buy a USED or second hand GPU, unless they are 100% sure what they are buying, and they are aware of the seller's reputation as well. But that is just me. I would still suggest you grab the RTX 2080 GPU, if you can afford to buy one.

That's not an entry-level GPU though. It's a high-end flagship card. What's the make and MODEL number of your PSU ? And YES, MSI AFTERBURNER works with all GPUs, regardless of the model and make/brand. ZOTAC's FireStorm Utility is not a very good/handy tool , at least in my opinion.

I second the no used card theory. Too many variables, not least of which is the fact that no manufacturer is going to honor a warranty on a third party purchase and without a warranty, no card purchase is ever wise. Failure rates for graphics cards are too high to spend all that cash with no insurance policy to back it up.

Yes, those are two different SKUs from the same brand which is ZOTAC. The AMP extreme is obviously faster than other non-OC models, since it is having high boost core clocks, along with Memory clock as well. Apart from that, there isn't much of a difference, except for the PCB cooling.

As you can see from this database, there are many AMP variants made by ZOTAC. Each is having a different boost clock.....

Nope. I don't think it's worth it. You can easily save the extra 80 USD, and overclock your own GPU model to match the clock/mem speeds of the AMP edition, or any other GPU for that matter (as long as the clocks are stable).

In SOME cases, it IS worth it. Some models from a given manufacturer will have binned components, which are capable of higher clocks, lower power consumption at the same clock and cooler operation. Generally those are more expensive models like EVGAs XC series. Not every tier of card will be likely to be binned but I know many of these 2080 and 2080 TI cards are, at least from EVGA. I'd assume that others are binning as well even if it's not as well advertised or known.

You are never going to get the same performance from a card that costs less if you compare OC headroom against a more expensive card. The more expensive card will ALMOST always be capable of a higher OC even if the stock settings are similar. Probably not in every case, but it's something worth looking at professional reviews to find out for any given card model. And looking at more recent reviews is always a good idea because sometimes these manufacturers change things after the initial run.

If it ever did, then it likely still does. The Ventus is not a bad card at all. MSI makes very good graphics cards, across the board. I have issues with some of their motherboards but I have no issues with their graphics card lines. For the price, that's a great card.

If you can afford another fifty bucks though, the EVGA XC gaming is a much superior binned card.

I am waiting for the list price because here in Lebanon they change gpu prices every week apparently, they don't put prices in their websites !!!

If you want my advice don't buy anything used in Lebanon, i spent my life there most of my family lives there and pretty much am from them, i have seen the computers in general in there and if you are going to buy a gaming computer, please buy a UPS the power cuts and the switching between the government power and the other power that is supplied from other people will kill your computer if you don't shut it down in time.
If you gave me a choice i would buy it from outside instead much more safer than buying anything from inside Lebanon.

It looks like only the Zotac mentioned in the link is under 800$ new (770$).
The msi ventus will be at 830$.
Now let's see if the buyer of my 1070 is serious or not, buyers of used items here sometimes just disappear after asking tons of questions and saying they will get it in 24h :/

YES. MANLI is a well known PSU brand in the Asian region. It's a Chinese legit graphics card brand that offers Nvidia graphics cards. Their collection includes high-end, mid-range and budget Nvidia graphics cards. They do have their own website as well. They are based in Hong Kong.

I'd first find out which of ALL the brands out there has warranty facilities that are even reasonably close to you, and then go with that. No point in paying that kind of money for a card that you have to pay half it's value to ship somewhere to get it warrantied if there is ever a problem.

Well that is the problem in our country (Lebanon) everything is so damn expensive, they take a tax of like 120% more on the actual thing.
For exmaple, if you get a car from outside of the country, you will have to pay a yearly fee for exporting it into the country and that fee is around 5k$.
Problem about there is, we don't have 24/7 power, government doesn't have enough fuel to power all cities at once, so they power each city for like 12-14 hour per day and thats it, then theres people that offer power because they bought huge gens and we pay monthly fee for it of like 200$ depending on use.
So a UPS will be important as well.
