Found a used Core i7 7700k Processor w/ Asus Strix z270 for $275. Wondering if I should go with that or get a ASUS TUF Z370 Plus w/ Core i5 8600K new for $390.

Would like the new system but for the money wondering if the 7700k would be a better deal. Would have more money for graphics card and ram.

Solution
Whilst you would have more to spend on the GPU and RAM with the 7700K, moving to the 8th gen with a future upgrade to 9th gen would just swing it for me. so the 8600K....but at the same time, you are getting a very good price on the 7700K and mobo combination...tough one as the GPU makes a lot of difference and will overall make for a faster system than the 8600K with a lesser GPU...tough, tough decision...Still 8600K for me as I would be able to upgrade further down the line on the Z370..and the 8600K is a excellent gaming cpu...

I should also mention that you are only a couple of weeks from the 9th Gen Intel launch, so that might change things for you and amy even bring prices on the 8th gen down a bit..

Depends on if you are willing to spend the extra money sooner or later for a good GPU with the 8600K. I would do that if it were me. You will save money in a few years time when you can simply upgrade to the i7-9700K/i9-9900K instead of having to upgrade the motherboard AND CPU again when the i7-7700K becomes too little of a CPU for modern gaming.
