Question Used GPU for two years

Hi everyone,

I'm considering buying a used Nvidia RTX A4000 16GB from a seller who has been using it daily for a little over 2 years. The seller mentioned that the card was briefly used for mining, but mostly for regular use. They also plan to provide 3DMark test results soon.

Here are some key details:

  • The card is an Nvidia RTX A4000 16GB.
  • It has been in daily use for about 2 years.
  • It was used for a short period of time for mining.
  • The seller claims the card has been well-maintained and plans to run a benchmark test (3DMark) before shipping.
I'm wondering if two years of daily use, combined with the brief mining period, is too much for this type of GPU. Should I be concerned about potential wear and tear? What should I look for in the 3DMark results to assess the card's current condition?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Basically a 3070Ti GPU wise, but it has slower memory but 16GB rather than 8GB. So take a look at the average benchmark for 3070 Ti. No reason you can't just look at A4000 results on 3DMark.

Hi, I still donot understand if the GPU is good or not, The Graphics score is 10849 which is below the average. Can you please tell me if it's good or not? Thank you in advance.

What does "good" mean.

Your problem is most people on this forum like to talk about gaming performance and that card is targeted at the more professional use. This also means it is more likely to have been reviewed and tested with benchmarks on profession application like rendering.

If you look back when that card came out there were likely lists that rated "good" mining cards.

In addition it is hard to say the true value of older technology over say the current stuff. It likely is missing feature newer models have.

So first you need to determine which features are most important to you. For example how much value do you put on it being a single slot card. There are massive number of variable when you look at stuff like core counts and memory when you compare video cards.

It is highly likely when you are looking at cards that are not the most popular you are going to have to look at a bunch of test data for various cards and then try to make a guess how it compares to other cards where there is actual test data for the application you are going to run.

Within 2% is pretty good if you ask me. That is the AVERAGE score. If your card is slightly below average that can be caused by all sorts of things. Either the system you have it plugged into, background tasks, ambient temperature, a dusty heatsink. The list is endless.
