i recently bought a evga gtx 1070 ftw gpu for a reasonable deal considering the market prices right now. When i sloted it into my pc and booted everything was runing fine, i decided to run some stress tests on the gpu to se how it preformes. I ran 3d furmark and heaven benchmark and the gpu was doing great, temps were not bad, but than i saw the core clock at 2012 mhz which is cosideratly more than even the rated boost clock of the gpu. But the card ran smothly, core clock was stable, temps as I said decent, no choping, no crashing. I ran 3d furmark for about half an hour nothing unusual happend, got into some games they ran nicely etc. My question is is it a red flag that the gpu came OCd when i got it, any recommendations on how to further test the gpu to see if it is in good health and that it will last me some time? Thanks in advance

Sounds to me like the previous owner flashed a better performing BIOS onto the card. But to do that means that person probably knew their stuff if, like you say, temps and everything else check out fine. Maybe monitor the voltage to check it's not too high, but I think you'll be okay.

I wouldn't worry, just enjoy the card.

It's actually normal. The previous owner didn't mess with it. It's how GPU boost works for Nvidia. My 1070 was boosting to 2050 on it's own, had a good silicon!

Better explanation following and see the last guy also mentioning 2012MHz.
