[SOLVED] Used GTX 1080 Ti or RTX 2080/S?

For gaming only, would a used GTX 1080 Ti be better value for my money since it’s cheaper than a new 2080/S?

Looking at around $475 for a used 1080 Ti on eBay vs a new RTX 2080S for around $700 new on Amazon
Raytracing doesn’t interest me

It really depends on a lot of factors.

Are you comfortable with not having a warranty?

Are you comfortable with it being used and not actually knowing what the previous owner did with the card?

Do you want better future proofing for games that will come out in 2+ years?

If you are willing to spend $700(ish), could you spend $500 on a newer 2070s and put the extra cash towards other upgrades in your system?

Realistically, if you are looking at spending $475 (close to $500) you should be looking at the 1080ti vs the 2070s. Which would still bring up the same questions listed above. I would spring to spend a bit more for the 2070s or 2080s. OR you can wait until Ampere/big navi which is rumored for later this year. I just don't feel that a used 1080ti is worth it right now, but all of this is just my opinion.

Plus, it also matters what your monitor's resolution and refresh rate are, and if it has FreeSync, GSync, or neither. Kinda helps to determine exactly how powerful of a video card you actually need.

The 2070s or 2080s will produce better performance than a 1080ti. The best value between the three would be the 2070s. King_V also brings up a very valid point too, your monitor refresh rate will also play a role.

If your monitor can't display them, then there's no point going for more frames.

Further, if you're shooting for mega-high frame rates, just don't. Human eye doesn't see go much more than approximately 100, no matter what the True Believers say (I will revise my opinion on that if science revises theirs).
