I'm planning on upgrading my i5 4460 because its showing its age now.

I found a really good deal of 4790k for 140$, since I have the supported mobo for this CPU, I am thinking of saving up for a 1070 Ti aswell.
Currently I have a used GTX 970, and it is definitely showing its age too.

Over the course of my research I found a R5 2600 with mobo for 270$ and found out that both the 4790k has the same performance but much more cooler and newer architecture.
I do not have any plans for future upgrades, but my i5 system is now 5year old.

I might also buy 16gb ddr4 3000mhz ram for the chosen build.

Thanks and Godbless

Short term yes the 4790K is a good upgrade, long term your spending 140 bucks on a chip you will have no where to go from upgrade wise. With the 2600 ( you'll also need DDR4 RAM) you will get more cores (which games are starting to rely on) and a upgrade path for the next few years hopefully.

You could get a 2600 then save for a GTX1660 or 1660ti.
