Ive been looking at a used ROG STRIX RX580 8GB and i managed to get the price down to £85 but there may be a potential that is has been used for mining

Is it worth it?

There's a very high chance that it's been mined on heavily. I'd ask you to pick up something brand new and have the piece of mind instead. Make and model of your PSU as well as it's age?

I second that....OP, please do yourself a favor, and get a brand new GPU, instead of going for that video card which has already been used for MINING.
