I failed the Tank Commander mission. I chased after the Sabre after the
mission was over and rammed it. The driver got out with a bat looking for a
fight. I got out and started throwing punches, they did no damage. A cop car
came flying in chasing after a cabbie, ran him right over, no damage. I
started shooting him, no damage. This is the first time I've encountered an
invincible character in the game.

I liked the turf wars better without Denise calling all the time, just
surprised it took so many bullets to kill her. One tough bitch.

I like that if you punch Ryder after he tells you to go in the Pizza shop in
the mission Ryder that he jumps in the car like a pussy and locks the doors.

Also on that mission when the pizza boy came out shooting I snuck up behind
him and cut his throat with the knife, he screamed and died before the knife
entered the throat, was weird.

True in a lot of missions: invincible (or very hard to kill) characters to
keep the mission going. (Vehicles, too.) For example, in the mission where
you ride a bike back from the graveyard with Ryder, Smoke, and Sweet, the
Homies are very hard to kill (but you can). (It's fun to smack Smoke and
Ryder around, knowing what their roles are in the story.)

I've heard reports that Sabre was most everything proof.
If not the lead Sabre, there's one in that mission that someone saved,
couldn't be damaged. GTA-SanAn has an icredible list of many-things
proof vehicles. Dozens.
