user access rights problem

I installed QuickBooks, Simple Start. When I try to open the program it
gives me an error dialogue box saying I need Administrative Group rights. I
am the only user and I have administrative rights. I don't know how to get
access to the program or why this is an issue. I've never seen this error
message before. I read about permissions and checked to be sure.

What Group are they talking about? How do I figure this one out?

This is what you need to do:

1) Create a "Quickbooks Users" group
2) Add your users to this group
3) Give the group Full Control to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Intuit\QuickBooksRegistration (RegEdt32.exe)
4) Give the group Full Control to the .QPG key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT (RegEdt32.exe)
5) Give the QuickBooks Users group Modify rights to the "X:\Program Files\Intuit\Quickbooks..." folder

Carey -

Thank you very much. and HELP! I have done the steps. It took me awhile
to get there - but I have done it. Unfortunately I had one problem and now a
huge issue:

on step 4 - there was no .QPG key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
I did a search throughout the registry to be sure I didn't miss it.

I did all other steps, however.

I even rebooted.

Now instead of the don't have access rights error message I have a fatal
error: It says -

Fatal Error: QuickBooks has encountered a problem. Close all open
applications and restart QuickBooks. If the
problem persists, insert the QuickBooks CD into your computer and then
reinstall the software. If you encounter the
problem again, contact Technical Support.

Whatever do I do now?
