Info User benchmarks 3400g vs 3770k

Disclaimer: I take the personal views of user benchmarks with a...heavy...whole bottle of salt.

So my wife wanted NVIDIAs broadcast software because she teaches online a lot. So I got her a "cheap RTX3060" I had a complete i7 3770k system left over from my son and a AMD 3400g CPU. The 3770k system is kind of on its last legs. It no longer retains BIOS settings. (Battery swap would likely fix it) Three of the five fan headers are toast.

I was wondering if it was worth it to get a $70 B450 board and some cheap ram and just use the 3400g as it's more modern.

I went to user benchmarks for raw performance numbers. Somehow the 9 year old 3770k is a better recommended buy new over the 3400g even though it's about 5%-20% faster in all benchmarks.

Boy that's rich

That site is always bias against AMD.

Given the issues you relay having with the 3770K's motherboard, I would hate to build up a system SO needs to depend on and then have it crap out. It rather sounds like it is ready to.

I would personally go with a budget choice motherboard with the 3400G, but also would select something that has BIOS updates available for 5xxx. This way you have a good option moving forward. There is talk of continued releases in the AM4 lineup and so many of them are around in stock new as well as used that it would be pretty easy to find something more powerful if needed.

When a site is banned from being mentioned on the Intel Sub reddit, you know they have problems. The company they want to win so much all the time, is rejecting them... what did they do wrong? Did they accidentally say AMD were a better choice somewhere?
They call every other website that reviews CPU shills for AMD. They change the way they score CPU to make Intel always better

their reviews are a laughing stock

People around here still suggest others use the benchmark. I just wonder how much of the benchmark scores are weighed by their review rankings.

Yeah, the 7950x only beats the i3 13100f by 19% according to them.

Just before the 3000 series they changed how they weighed multi core compared to single core so a lot of CPU had their scores changed and situations like yours started to happen

They are also biased against AMD when it comes to GPU as well. Anything AMD will never be the right choice there. I wonder who will win in a comparison between Nvidia & Intel GPU in the future., according to them.

They call AMD Advanced Marketing Devices. Anyone who makes up meanings for other company names is not unbiased.

So its not a good site to compare anything on. But they spend so much to be first result in any comparison.

In my own case, I ask people to run it. Often it is because we cannot get a full picture from the person posting by way of omittance or simply not knowing. It has its value in spite of shortcomings.

I wasn't attacking anyone, I just wish there was an alternative that didn't take sides.

I didn't particularly take it that way, just seemed worth mention.

I believe you posted about Passmark above. I have use and continue to use their site quite often and particularly weighted when I am trying to select a CPU. Unfortunately, there is information on the UBM results that are helpful such as the identity of the hardware and quite helpful alone, the CPU background use.

I pretty much only use it for a vague old GPU to new GPU comparisons. Hard to find charts that have old GPUs on them.

Also not a lot of places that put iGPU and GPU to the same tests, which can be helpful when looking at low end builds compared to low end and used discrete cards.

sorry, statement was not addressed at anyone in thread, more at topic of thread.

I didn't mean for anyone to take it personally :)

I have been known to run it but I know not to take it too seriously.
isn't it used here to get an idea of the hardware someone has? I swear I have seen people ask for a userbenchmark result in numerous threads.
