I was hoping that someone might be able to help me configure user restrictions in Windows XP with SP2 and all updates installed. What I am trying to do is prevent users from installing software (AOL TO BE EXACT). I want to block so they cant download it and install or run it from CD. Any help would be greatful

You should be ok with activating the Guest account in XP. This account restricts users from installing and/or modifiying system registry.

You should also make sure to password proctect the Administrator account that is only visable when you boot into safe mode. Boot into safe mode (by pressing f8 while windows is booting and click on the Administrator account.)

Once you are logged on as Administrator, password protect the account.

reboot, and thats it!

Good luck!
