Question Using 1600mhz RAM on a motherboard only rated up to 1333mhz

I am about to buy a 4x4 kit of RAM for my pc. The motherboard I am using is from a dell optiplex 790 and the cpu is a sandy bridge i5-2500. I heard somewhere that sandy bridge cpus won’t have an issue running this. I need some confirmation.

In worst case memory will work at 1333MHz.

It should work, maybe at lower speed than 1600Mhz but should work
