i have 970 and 1060
i am interested in using one for gaming and one for streaming.
how many times I select individual gpus for separate apps, in the diver options the 2nd gpu is not utilizing.
and is there any trick to use both gpus
i am on latest geforce drivers

looking for your help.

Solution
Pretty sure streaming is done by the CPU, not GPU. Unless you're talking about using Nvidia Geforce Experience/Shadowplay. And even then, the GPU may take care of recording/encoding, but the CPU still needs to handle the broadcasting.

Sounds like an interesting feat, the only way I know to use different cards is to use virtualization software but you'll need a third gpu for it and it gets to be a massive mess. Maybe try using 2 systems, I haven't heard of using 2 different cards for different tasks in a long time.

Depends on the codec hes streaming with, H.264 is cpu bound but I believe some can use GPU acceleration.

I was mistaken, you don't necessarily have to use Shadowplay to take advantage of the GPU hardware encoder, it looks like recording programs such as OBS support it too.

But seeing as how that is done by a fixed function hardware unit on the GPU, it should have little to no performance impact and therefore wouldn't really benefit from being offloaded to a separate GPU.

If you’re using both GPUs at the same time it wouldn’t be noticeable decrease in performance anyways, I do light streaming with at gtx 1060 6gb and a i7-6700k and there’s not much performance difference when streaming. I do have a question tho, do you use both cards at the same time for gaming? If so how does that work and how much performance increase do you see? Because I have a gtx 1060 and was wondering if I should buy a second hand gtx 970
