Hi all,

New here, and replacing several components in a PC. I've update my GFX card to a GeForce RTX 2060 and the PSU. However, the PSU only has 1 x 4+4 pin connector, and my MB needs 1 x 4 pin and the card needs 1 x 8 pin. Can I safely convert the 1 x 4 pin to an 8 pin using an adapter or is that a terrible idea?

I can't find a PSU online that has an 8 pin + a 4 pin, but might not be looking correctly.

Thanks in advance,

Solution
Exact MAKE and MODEL of your PSU is needed.
4+4pin is for CPU ONLY. 6pin and 6+2pin (8pin) is for GPUs.
If a PSU does not have the proper connectors for a GPU it is not meant to power said GPU.

Terrible idea. Single EPS 4 pin delivers 75 W, while 8 pin PCIe needs 150 W. You could convert one 4+4 EPS to one PCIe with adapter but any such adapters are always unnecessary risk.

There are none as far as I know. PSU will either have one or two 4+4 EPS cables. Essentially if your mobo needs just single 4 pin EPS the other part of 4+4 will be just unused.
Btw, do you mean your PSU have no PCIe cables at all? That would mean it is so low wattage unit that there is no chance to power 2060 with it.
