In order to reduce my GPU's temperature I've decided to use 50Hz refresh rate on a 60Hz refresh rate monitor.
The temp went down but could this cause problems in the long run?

PS: Tested on Euro Truck Simulator 2, temp went down by 5 °C .

Thx already for any input

By reducing power usage, do you mean overclocking settings on Afterburner?
no matter what software you may use to achieve the outcome;
the term would be more "underclocking" but since you wouldn't be touching Core or Memory settings that really doesn't apply.

undervolting is all you would be attempting.

may limit some games to 50fps but i really don't get what you mean by "problems".

you may be better off just slightly limiting the power % used and keeping the 60Hz refresh rate.

By problems I mean something monitor related because of my using a different refresh rate from the natural one.
