My dell optiplex 3020 does not have 24pin connector in the motherboard. Instead it uses 8pin, i want to upgrade my psu and i bought a psu and it has a 8 pin connector. Can i connect it to my motherboard without any issue? By not using an adaptor for 24pin to 8pin. There is no available adaptor here in the philippines.

your power supply uses a custom set of connectors to power your motherboard.
a 8 pin and a 4 pin. (the 4 pin looks like a standard ATX EPS 12v connector), the other one IS NOT a standard 8 pin.

what ever store bought power supply you purchased IS NOT going to work unless your splicing power cables to make it fit

not a simple upgrade indeed.

There are a few different 8 pin connectors and they don't interchange. 8PIN ATXE (CPU connector), 8 pin PCIe (GPU connector), and the Dell only 8 pin MB connector. The first 2 are 12V only, but wired differently. The Dell connector is found only on PSUs made to work in Dells and has other Voltages. Connecting the 12V connectors to the MB will probably damage it.
What do you need to upgrade for? Which size 3020 do you have?
If you have the Tower version the adapter is the way to go.

The SFF PSU should support a GTX1050Ti low profile card. The yellow 12V wires shown, and the white 12V wires mean it's a 2 rail PSU. These often have some extra capacity.
With the adapter the sky"s the limit for the Tower version.
