Guys i have a dual channel motherboard and currently i have one 8gb stick installed and i cannot afford other 8gb stick so i am planning to get another 4gb stick .
Will they perform good ? will dual channel work ? Also, is 12gb ram enough for gaming ?

Ps: I will get same brand ram with same speed . i.e Adata U-dimm ram sticks

Solution
1.matching 8gb and 4GB together will not enable dual channel because they are not the same size

2. will the *GB work with the 4GB in your system , the only way to know if try it out, make sure you put the 8GB into the first ram slot and the 4GB in the second one. this will optimize your chances of no issues.

Note on*2 if your system hangs after upgrading ram, likely cause by mismatched ram, take the 4GB out, and try again and run memtestx86 on the ram if your still having hang up while using issues.

Solution
Mixing and matching RAM does not always work. Even if it is the same model and size. This is why RAM is sold in kits as they are tested to work together. But just because it does not always work, does not mean that it wont work. I would just buy the RAM from a vendor that has a good return policy in case it does not.
