Using a dedicated sound card for just PS3 sound

I have headphones hooked into onboard sound for computer sound. I want to install a sound card, hook speakers into it, and output PS3 sound using an RCA-3.5mm adapter. Can this be done and how?

Why do you need the sound card to hook up the speakers? Use the PS3's RCA adapter with a RCA to 3.5mm female adapter directly. Are you trying to hook up more than stereo? Because there's an adapter for that as well.
