I have almost finished building my PC, but I have yet to choose a PSU. I am considering overclocking my CPU, and I think 550W will be sufficient, but I find the branded PSUs too expensive, even the cheapest ones like the Corsair VS550.

I have ordered a Sun Pro 550W but that one is very dodgy (transistor explodes at 350W apparently), could I risk using that for just a few days?

I was looking to buy a used PSU, like my other parts, but I couldn't find any branded ones for cheap. I live in Australia. Since my PC build cost around 260USD, I don't want to buy a very expensive PSU if possible.

Some of the PSUs I have been considering are the Widetech PSUs (550W, but others also available), Besta 550W.

Could I run my PC with a generic PSU, or is it essential that I get a branded one?

you need a good psu, that sun pro is a pipe bomb waiting for the right moment
