Question Using a higher speed ram with a lower one can cause BSOD on Windows?

Hi, I have some issues with my pc. I installed a new ram hyperx 1866mhz ddr3 8gb, my motherboard is an Asus h81m-k which supports 1600mhz. I know is possible to put a faster ram but will run as much at 1600.
The problem is that I'm having BSOD with error code "critical process died" and stays at 0%. Can the BSOD be caused by this new ram? My pc already had a 1600mhz ram SK Hynix.
Additionally, I have dual boot with two hdd, and my second os (ubuntu) is running ok.
I must say that I haven't use the PC for a couple of months so I'm not sure if this can also be because drivers and windows are not updated. I couldn't update any driver as the BSOD appears.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
