Hi, i recently made the mistake of buying an older motherboard (Z170 AR) and a newer CPU (i7-7700) like many others have it seems lol. Lucky for me my friend has an Intel Celeron G3930 that i can borrow. Will that allow me to update my bios so i can use the i7-7700? thanks :)

No as it would need the same bios version as the i7 7700 as they are both Kaby Lake cpus.
It may be likely that your motherboard already has a bios version updated to 3007 or higher which are compatible with kaby lake cpus.
Also consider simply just returning the motherboard and get a Z270 or go to a computer shop and see if they can update the bios for you for a fee.

Any Skylake cpu should work.
