Question Using a MacBook Pro to record Gaming from Windows

Hi

Hopefully someone can help me. I want to record gaming, ideally using OBS. I used to do this on an old laptop with both the gaming and recording running on the same machine, but this had some performance impact. I have a reasonably new gaming rig and I know it’s possible to get capture cards.

What I’d like to do is game on a Windows 10 desktop (Ryzen 7 3700X 8x3.6-4.4ghz, RX 5700 XT 8gb, 16gb Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 3200MHz) but record via a capture card to my MacBook Pro (i5 dual core 3.1ghz, 8gb RAM).

Firstly is it possible to record this way with the gaming and recording machines running a different OS and secondly if so, what will I need to make it work?

I‘ll give it a whirl, do you think there‘ll be enough resource even with GPU/CPU intensive games like RDR2?

If you have the necessary hardware and software for your Mac why not give it a try?

Yes, a 3700X has plenty of extra cores.
