I have found several posts on the web where people have set up a RP to play Blu-ray discs, but I have not found one where a RP is used to burn one. Is it possible - dependably?
People seem to still use them as backup.I wasn't aware that people still burned discs . I thought hard drives killed all that .
It would be smarter to just use USB 2.0 thumb drives . They are ridiculously cheap and have high capacity. If you can get over the KBPS they transfer at ... Not Mbps .People seem to still use them as backup.
The theoretical lifespan of a thumb drive is 20 years, while the theoretical lifespan of a BD-RE disc is 100 years. I suppose that's the only real benefit, but it could make discs better for decades of long-term storage of information. M-discs also exist, which are relatively affordable, written the same way as Blu-ray discs (but only once), and can theoretically last for 1,000 years. The decision between these options depends on what you are storing and how long you want to store it for.It would be smarter to just use USB 2.0 thumb drives .
