Okay, so I'm in the middle of rebuilding my rig and I had the idea to use a usb-powered monitor instead of a traditional one for a few reasons. I'm in the navy and I'll be deploying soon, and power plugs are at a premium, so for my computer to only require one would be awesome. I also liked how low-profile they are, space efficiency is key. I purchased this and I feel like an idiot because it didn't even cross my mind that there was a slight problem. The only port on this thing is USB because the one line transmits power and data for video both. What this means is that my fancy graphics card is going to be rendered useless. I tried searching online for hdmi-to-usb adapters, but it seems that I am only able to find the reverse. Is there any way I can get my graphics card to work with the monitor? Any suggestion is welcome. And time is of the essence, I deploy in less than two weeks! Thank you all.

The mods have it right.

The USB to HDMI connector actually has some rudimentary hardware in it to act as a display controller. Couple that with the driver and you have a very basic display device. It's not a cable, but an adapter.

The best refresh rate I've seen on a USB monitor is 30 Hz, so your game wouldn't work very well anyway. I'm sorry to be the re-enforcer of bad news.
