Hello, I have NordVPN and i use it just fine with my wifi but it is slow. Can i connect wired with a ethernet cable to a VPN or would that not be secure. I understand that my indentity is masked with a VPN over WIFI but can i also do it with ehternet and still be unknown online as far as my location goes.

Solution
VPN works over ethernet just the same as over wifi - it passes your network(internet) traffic through the VPN - doesn't matter if its wifi or ethernet.
Well I have NordVPN so I am a perfect example. The speeds will be slower because you are connecting to your ISP, then the VPN server, and then whatever server you are trying to connect (www.cnn.com). So WiFi is already slow, but by using Ethernet you can elimante many interferences (2.4ghz, bluetooth, etc). However, the speed may still be slow due the server you are connected to. So if you have a connection to Germany, it will be slower compared to your home country.

First, I'm assuming that you're connecting to the internet at home? In this case, your first line of security is to insure that your router is secure. That means, you've changed the router log in with a secure username and password and that you've enable security on your wifi. This itself has nothing to do with a VPN. It secures your home connection whether you're connected using your wifi or an ethernet cable.

With that said, connecting directly to your router with an cable may speed things up slightly, depending on the speed of the internet service that you've purchased from your internet provider. Mostly likely, the source of slow web speeds is directly related to using the VPN. Think of it this way, you need to go thru your internet provider, then go thru the VPN. This takes an extra step and is also very dependent on the speed of NordVPN. The tradeoff you have is speed versus security you want.

As long as you are using the NordVPN software, and the switch is ON, yes, you are connected to the VPN. Again, I would choose the server CLOSEST to you for faster performance.
