Hello guys!

I bought video card GTX 660 which requires 12V and 24A, but I have a PSU which outputs 12V and 18A.
Is it safe to use my current PSU for time while I get a more powerful PSU? I'm not using it for games, only for movies* and browsing for time being.

P.S. This issue hit me when I came to work. :) I don't wanna burn my GPU.
*Movie quality - DVDRip, if that matters.

500W whitenergy
On PSU box there is table - 12V1 18A and 12V2 18A; other values I don't remember.

I absolutely agree. You do not want to stress a cheap piece of junk like that unless you like fires in your case and blown parts.

A GTX 660 needs a recommended 430w power supply.

The good news is you can pick up a unit of good to very good quality for around $30-$40 usually.

The Corsair CX 430 is perfect for a low power build like yours and Microcenter has it for $35 after rebate.

If you don't want to wait on or trust a mail in rebate the Antec BP430 is $43 at Amazon with no rebate hassle.

At this point I placed on order Corsair CX600; well if you are saying CX430 is okay than it should be fine with CX600

I just want to inform anyone who reads this thread that to avoid any risks I took out my GTX 660 and put back GT 220 which I used previously with my PSU.
As soon as I get my new PSU next week I will put my GTX 660 back.

This probably is the safest solution with current PSU. :)
