[SOLVED] Using an AP and Reolink poe Camera from one RJ45 cable

I installed (at pain) two AC-Lite access points a year ago as the 4 port Vodafone router is in the middle of the house and I didn't get wifi the 20m either side (long house).

Now I would like to add an (RLC-410-5MP) camera to both ends of the house for good coverage - is there anyway of piggy backing the CAT 6 RJ45 cable I had already run?

Thanks in advance!

Not sure what you are asking. You can place a switch at the end of the current cable and then plug the AP and another cable going to the camera into the switch. If the camera uses standard 802.3af PoE you can buy a switch that can also power the camera. Otherwise you need to plug the power injector between the switch and the camera.

Thank you for the reply - the answer could just be that simple!

So something like the: TP-Link TL-SF1005P 5-Port 10/100 Mbps Ethernet PoE Switch?

One at either end of the cable? I assume I just need to run an Ethernet cable into that and then I can connect the camera and AP into the switch? No PoE adapters from the router?

Many thanks once again. The UniFi box has a sticker on with "Now supports 24v and 802.3af" so happy days! I shall try one before gambling on two, just in case I have missed anything.

Kind regards and have a Merry Christmas :)
