[SOLVED] Using an HDMI-DVI converter for 144hz?

I recently picked up an RTX 2070 Super GPU, which does not have a DVI port, so I had to use HDMI instead. But now my monitor is locked to 1080p @ 60Hz, because of the manufacturer limitation on HDMI. I was wondering though since it would easily go to 144Hz on DVI, would buying an HDMI to DVI connector allow me to run the monitor at 144Hz again? Since it would be using a DVI interface?
